The Ocean Community Young Professionals Network is an initiative of the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce to connect, inspire and educate young professionals in the area.
What is OCYPN?
A group of young professionals who live in the Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck area and are between the ages of 21 and 45 years old. Membership is FREE and is not restricted to Chamber members.
OCYPN offers networking, community involvement and social opportunities to energize local young professionals. OCYPN is made up of a dynamic and diverse group of peers with a passion for making a difference, a willingness to learn, the desire to build important relationships, and the energy to get involved in the community.
What's in it for YOU?
- Drop Everything and Network (D.E.A.N) are casual gatherings of the Ocean Community Young Professionals Network (OCYPN). These informal, and often spontaneous, get-togethers take place at local hot spots and serve as a way for local YPs to learn more about OCYPN without the formality of a structured networking event. DEAN events are promoted no more than ten days in advance and primarily use social media to generate buzz and communicate event details. Interested attendees are encouraged to come meet the team and chat about getting involved in the local community. OCYPN Advisory Board Members will also engage patrons at the location of each DEAN location to spread the word and recruit future OCYPN members.
- Down to Network (DTN) events are held bimonthly at a local business. More formal than our DEAN events, DTN events offer preregistration, door prizes, and a more formal networking structure. DTN events have been held at a variety of locations from Grey Sail Brewing of RI to Mystic Aquarium.
